Lucid Dreaming – part 2

Unfortunately last night I did not manage to get into a lucid dream state.

It seems that my lost vision is quite normal is from a shot of adrenaline which causes you to start to wake up.

Next time I will try to remain calm and try to re-enter the dream by visualising it while it is still fresh in my memory.

I have also found some reality checks which will help to determine whether it is reality or a dream.

These include
1: Breathing – Can you breathe with your fingers tightly sealing your nose?
2: Jumping – When you jump, do you float back down?
3: Reading – Do sentences change when you read them? Read, turn away and repeat it to yourself, and then turn back and read it again. Do this twice.
4: Vision – Do you have perfect vision? This only works for people who have at least slightly blurry vision in the waking world. Alternatively, if you have perfect vision in the waking world, you may have blurred vision in the dream world.
5: Hands – Do your hands have a strange colour, too many fingers (sometimes they disappear and reappear when you try to count them!) or other abnormalities? Can you push your finger through your other hand?
6: Time – Does your watch or clock tell a reasonable time? Are you even able to read the time off it? Sometimes clocks have the wrong number of hands or have strange symbols. Try reading the time twice, like the Reading check above. Note: Digital clocks often work better for this reality check.
7: Powers – Are you able to fly (just visualise it), unlock doors, or use other magical powers? Try to change the shape of your body, or walk through a wall, window, or mirror.
8: Light switches – Does a light switch work?
9: Mirrors – Do you look normal in a mirror?
10: Nose – Can you see your nose with one eye closed?
11: memory – Are you able to remember how you got here, why you are here and what happened an hour ago? This is not always a reliable reality check!

I’m going to have to choose the best ones for me with the following important properties of reliability, speed, and discreetness.

Wish me luck!

Lucid Dreaming

Recently I have been having very powerful dreams.
So powerful in fact, that I have been woken slightly frustrated that I did not get more information while in the dream state.

After a little online research, I found a system where I could programme myself with a cue to awaken myself in the dream.

On the first night, I was prompted to use the cue. I did not but woke up and acknowledged that it was possible to wake myself up within the dream state.

Last night (the second night) I was having a very vibrant dream.
The cue presented itself and I chose to take the cue and awaken myself in the dream.
The dream went from being vibrant to no dream at all, just an empty space.
After stumbling around in my dream’s empty space I woke up a little confused.

I’m not sure what happened, perhaps I had my eyes shut.
I will try again tonight, and this time I’ll get myself to open my eyes to see if that makes a difference!
